Getting around Grenada - Sailing guide for Grenada

HauloutThe Grenada Marine Marina & Boatyard is nestled in one of the many safe anchorages along Grenada’s south coast.

Boatlift The yard area amounts to 6 acres which is dedicated to storage, repair and painting.

Osmosis treatments, metal fabrication, mechanical and electrical departments, woodworking, rigging and canvas services are also available on site.
The Caribbean village houses Ze Galley Restaurant & Bar, Mini Market, Island Water World stores, Customs and Immigration, Internet Café, Shower & Restroom facilities and the Yard Office.

The basic yard services are supervised by Oliver “Watchie” Burris. A Grenadian national, Oliver brings over 30 years experience working with heavy equipment and directing construction-type projects. As the Yard Foreman, Oliver is responsible for the lifting, moving, chocking and placement of the approximately 130+ yachts in the yard, as well as the operation of the crane used to dismast yachts. In addition Oliver oversees the Yard Crew operations which include the bottom painting team.

 

Boatyard Grenada MarinePaint/Finishing This department is headed by Nicolas Roelens. An expatriate French national, Nicolas joined the Grenada Marine team in 2003 where, apart from his duties as the overall technical director, Nicolas also helms the Fiberglass/Composite and Paint/Finishing departments.
Under his guidance the departments perform extensive structural repairs and aesthetic refits on yachts, including the international standard AwlGrip and refinish projects. Since Nicolas joined the Grenada Marine team, the boatyard has developed a solid reputation for turning out the highest quality workmanship.

The rigging shop is run by Louis Cuenoud. Louis is an expatriate Swiss national by way of South Africa, and was a crew member on the prestigious Whitbread winner UBS Switzerland (the Whitbread being a prominent Round-The-World Race).
With over 30 years of marine and yachting experience, Louis is a partner in Turbulence Sails, a well-known Caribbean rigging and sail making company, in conjunction with Richard Szyjan. Louis runs the rigging shop and sail loft at Grenada Marine, where he specializes in complete rigging refits, rig surveys and deck hardware layouts.
