Carriacou Acommodation - Lodging on Carriacou
Caribbee Inn on CarriacouCaribbee Inn on CarriacouNote ... we are not sure whether the Caribbee Inn is still open.
Rumors are it is up for sale.

"It's the English country house in the tropics. One of the treasures of the Caribbee."
The estate comprises grounds of approximately 5 acres between a public road and the sea on the West leeward shore of Carriacou island

The Caribbee Inn is sensuous and secluded, the epitome of Caribbean romance.
Each of its individual rooms, most with four-poster bed and panoramic, shuttered windows, feels apart from the worlds.

A review :
We stayed at the Caribbee Inn which is located at the far end of the island.
I have to say that the view from the room was stupendous.
The rooms themselves are very charming, and the "designer" rooms have private balconies complete with hammoc.
Since it was low-season, there were no other tourists at the hotel, which made things very quiet and relaxing.

There is no air conditioning, and bring mosquito repellant.
The beds are equipped with mosquito netting.
There is a refrigerator in the rooms, and the inn bakes it's own bread.
The bacon sandwiches we had for lunch both days were great.
Unfortunately, Wendy Cooper (one of the owners) who is a chef for the inn, was not serving dinner during our stay
(I'm not sure if she was on vacation, or if it was because we were there during the slowest time of year.)
Consequently, we had to call for cabs to pick us up and bring us back each evening for dinner in town.
This was a disappointment, as the Caribbee advertises their chef, and was one of the reasons we chose to stay there.

Be warned, though, that the food is REALLY expensive at the inn.
You can get a cab round trip into town for under .
The callaloo soup at the Callaloo restuarant was an experience not to be missed!
I would highly recommend the Caribbee as a relaxing "get away from it all" location.
The private beach is not that great, as it is mostly broken coral with very little sand.
However, there is Anse LeRoche beach, a mere 20 minute scenic walk from the inn.
This beach was nearly deserted and about the best beach I have ever encountered.

CARIBBEE HOUSE: the owners' spacious residence with tower entrance and an exercise pool.

Accommodation comprises two en-suite bedrooms and split level Apartment The house was completely renovated in 1996 and again in 2005

CARIBBEE INN: This property (built in 1989) includes 4 en-suite bedrooms with restaurant, kitchens and bar facilities

SPARROW HAWK VILLA: This detached villa was constructed 1995 and comprises two large en-suite bedrooms (sleeps 5).

The living area is unique with a high beamed ceiling, with a timbered tower above the open-plan kitchen and bar.

The master bedroom has large jalousie windows that provide views out to sea, and the second bedroom (which was used as a set in the film 'The Room With A View') has an octaganol balcony entrance and the room itself has a wonderful colonial feel.

This self-contained property (sleeps 2) is set in the nature reserve with sea views and a small garden.

The cottage has two rooms, with the bedroom opening out onto decking from where sea views can be enjoyed.

The little patio garden below is hidden in the lush greenery and shaded by a flaming flamboyant tree.

The separate STUDIO (sleeps 2) has an open-plan kitchen that opens onto a patio where meals can be taken under the shade of coconut palms and cherry trees. This is a cosy and tranquil property in an idyllic setting.

"Two Amazonian macaws swooped by, their tail feathers rippling in the glow, their opinions ricocheting around the hillside. I dropped my bags with a contented sigh." - THE SUNDAY TIMES

BOATHOUSE: The boathouse and an eighteenth-century RUIN lead onto a secluded cove.

High North bordering the national park of Carriacou

The estate is situated just below the 1000 acres nature reserve on Carriacou that protects the ecosystems on the island, and it is this natural diversity that provides the residents and visitors to the island some of the most memorable experiences, truly making Carriacou feel like a little paradise in the Caribbee.
