The waters are deep at a short distance of the island.
That is why you hardly ever have to go out very far to get a huge fish hooked on your bait.
The variety of fish is large. here we present you with several of the most caught fish in the waters of Grenada and Carriacou.

Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sailfish, the Short & long billed Spearfish, Yellowfin and Bigeye Tunas, Dorado and Wahoo.

Colour cobalt blue on top shading to silvery white on bottom; upper jaw elongated in form of spear; dorsal fin pointed at front end; pectoral fin and anal fin pointed; lateral line reticulated (interwoven like a net), difficult to see in large specimens; no dark spots on dorsal fin; body covered with embedded scales ending in one or two sharp points.

Colour of body dark blue to chocolate brown, shading to silvery white underbelly; noticeable spots on dorsal fin; upper jaw elongated in shape of spear; body covered with embedded scales with a single sharp point; tips of first dorsal, pectoral, and first anal fins rounded; lateral line curved above pectoral fin, then going in straight line to base of tail

Colour dark blue on top, brown-blue laterally, silvery white underbelly; upper jaw elongated in form of spear; first dorsal greatly enlarged in the form of a sail, with many black spots, its front squared off, highest at its midpoint; pelvic fins very narrow, reaching almost to the anus; body covered with embedded scales, blunt at end; lateral line curved above pectoral, then straight to base of tail.

Short & long billed Spearfish

Spearfish can be distinguished from other billfish by a slender, lightweight body, short bill, and a dorsal fin that is highest anteriorly (higher than in marlin and lower than in the sailfish). The vent is located well in front of the anal fin; in all other billfish, the vent is located close to the anal fin.

The second dorsal fin and the anal fin are both bright yellow, thus the common name, and can be very long in mature specimens, as are the pectoral fins. The main body is very dark metallic blue, changing to silver on the belly, which also has about 20 vertical lines.

Bigeye Tuna
Bigeye Tuna is characterized by its “tuna-like” body, deep metallic blue back, and white on the lower sides and belly. It has a faint iridescent blue band along its side. Its first dorsal fin is yellow. Its anal and second dorsal fin are pale yellow, and the finlets are bright yellow, edged in black.

Blackfin have football shaped bodies, black backs with only a slight yellow on the finlets but with yellow on the side. Blackfin are found only in the western Atlantic from Cape Cod to Brazil. Blackfin reach a maximum size of just shy of 50 pounds.

Dorado, Dolphin, Mahi Mahi
Upper body green or electric blue. Sides gold with flashes of green.
The male has an upright head. Female has a rounded head. Dorsal fin runs almost full length of the body. The male is larger and heavier than the female.

Wahoo
Wahoo
Upper body dark blue or electric blue with waved stripes.
Lower body silver. Overshot lower jaw. Maxilla (jaw hinge) not visible.
Dorsal fin curved and highest at rear. Razor sharp teeth.
