| Carriacou Guide - Beaches of Carriacou | |||
![]() Harveyvale is where most of the yachts stay on Carriacou. A long road along the bay with some shops, two diveshops a chandlery dive operators and the inevitable rum shop. Alongside the road is a white sandy beach which gets darker when you get to the far end where the shipyard is. It is a suitable beach for swimming, the water is clear.It is not as private as the other beaches since there is no seperation from the road. The yachties land here with their dinghies, the water is normally very calm. Bars and restaurants like the Lambi Queen are located along this stretch. The bay is Tyrell Bay which is already a great mooring and a new yacht harbor is under construction.It is a perfect shelter for the elements while during a hurricane the boats can shelter in the mangroves. In the mangroves, on the background of this picture is a large creek with even more protected shelter for gales. It is a pleasant walk from here towards Paradise beach when the sun is not too high.The hike will take you about 45 minutes if you go early morning or at sunset, which will give you fantastic views. If done at midday it will take more then an hour and five bottles of beer. In Harvey Vale is an old Amerindian Well.
